She really wasn't expecting anything. There was no way he was going to call. So she went about her business of enjoying Thanksgiving as much as possible with a slightly dysfunctional family. :)

"It's good to hear your voice," he said, a little more at ease. "I think I can slip out of here for a bit, and was wondering if you were serious about meeting?"

"Of course I was!" she answered. "I told you I'm honest and don't make promises I don't intend on keeping. I scoped the area when we drove through Hays Wednesday. I need to figure out a reason to leave for the next 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I'll meet you at the water tower just north of town in about an hour. Will that work for you?"

"I'll make it work," he replied. "Can't wait to see you!" ...
