They say that when a dam begins to crumble, the trickle of water that escapes will soon become a torrent. That happens in other areas of life too. It was only a few months after I made love to Charlie that I found myself committing adultery again. This time it was with Amy, the mother of one of my son's school friends.

Up until the time with Charlie two or three months earlier, I'd remained totally faithful to my wife. Sure, I'd look at a pretty woman as she walked past, who doesn't, but that was as far as I'd ever gone. Elizabeth was the first and only woman I'd ever made love to, and I was happy with that. Then came a visit from Charlie and her husband Jason, and the alcohol-fuelled game of strip pontoon that ended with Charlie and me in bed together while our partners slept in the adjacent room. Neither of us regretted it, though perhaps fortunately neither Elizabeth nor Jason guessed what we'd done. I don't know if we'll ever do it again. Part of me hopes so.
