From the diary of Winston Albert Jane

March 4, 1934 Nairobi:

I'm starting this diary today in hopes that it will fill some of the emptiness that I have been feeling since mother's accident. Father still blames himself for what happened but it was not his fault. He has sought to distract himself by throwing himself completely into his work.

Very little going on today. Father says we will only be here for a month. He said that about Egypt and we were there 3 years. The rumor about the White Ape has gotten to father and he will not give it up.

Since mothers death his curiosities have become even more aroused. I miss her as well but father seems to be only able to fill her absence with these personal quests. I hope that he finds what he searches for soon. For both our sakes.
