My next assignment was probably the most humiliating experience of my entire life, yet strangely also one of the most exhilarating. One of the students from my original class had rung, out of the blue. I'd modelled for Rose once before and had never been asked back, though I knew that Claire had been to see her on several occasions. In fact, Claire had set off for her house earlier that afternoon, and I thought that that was why she was ringing.

"Matt, I wonder if you could do me an enormous favour," she began.

"I'll try," I replied.

"Suzanne's just been round, absolutely desperate for a model, so I've let her take Claire. The thing is, I really could do with the practice and this afternoon is my only free time this week. Is there any way you could come round here, now?"

I was a little surprised, but tried not to let it show in my voice. "Of course, that's no problem. Do you want me to come to the farm?"

"If you wouldn't mind, that would be great," she answered.

"I'll be there in about twenty minutes."

I hung up. Our college was not your typical campus, nearby a busy town ...
