Chapter 4 - After the dance Nick opens the car door for Susan. She carefully slides her bottom onto the leather seat and swings her legs in, her knees high because of her heels. She slips off her shoes, rubbing her toes together with a swishing noise as Nick gets into the driving seat. Nick leans over and takes her toes in his hand. ‘Poor little feet.' ‘Umm - nice.' Susan purrs at the attention. ‘Now the left one, please.' Susan sits back as the car moves out of the car park. No sign of John. Strange - she would have bet money that he couldn't resist coming to see. A car puts on its lights as they drive down the long car park access road. Nick turns and the car is gone.

Ten minutes to Nick's flat. Susan looks across at him, firm-jawed, concentrating on his driving. He's a catch. She puts her hand on his thigh. Not too high, just enough to know what she means. Nick looks at her. ‘Road, please!' A laugh.
