Chapter 8

Melissa worked her way to Great Bend Monday, writing six orders for a total of just over one thousand dollars. Tuesday, she opened two new accounts as well as writing orders at all eight established customers.

After a Pizza, she returned to her room, worked up the orders, then tried watching TV. It was boring, so she decided to go down to the bar and see if she could find someone interesting to talk to. As she entered the lounge, she felt the eyes watching as she sat on a stool at the bar.

The bartender hurried over and took her order, and before he returned with her drink, a man in her middle forties moved beside her.

"May I buy you that drink?"

Melissa turned and looked into his puffy face. "Thanks, but no thanks. I just came in to unwind and have one quick drink. Thanks again." She reached into her purse and paid the bartender after he sat her drink before her. She didn't watch, but knew the would-be admirer had moved ...
