The year is 1943. America is deeply involved in World War II. Not all of the action is taking place on the battlefields.

Luke Swenson is 24 years old. He is 6'1" tall, 210 lbs, blond, blue eyes, but is not in the military. He suffered a hunting accident at the age of 16 that cost him the the loss of sight in one eye.

Luke's father is a captain in the Army fighting somewhere in Europe. He and his mother live near Fort Jackson in South Carolina. She works as a secretary for a lawyer and Luke keeps busy doing odd jobs for some of the wives of the soldiers overseas.

He is a very handy guy to have around during these trying times. He likes to work with his hands. There are many small home repair jobs that the wives are incapable of taking care of. This is why Luke keeps very busy.

Luke was currently helping Nora Pratt. She decided that her place needed painting and she hired Luke to do the work. Nora liked Luke. Not only was he good looking, but he was easy to talk to as well.

Nora was 22 years old, 5'6", a brunette, 35C-24-36. She had been a virgin when she married and so was her husband. They were only married for 2 months when he was sent off to fight.
