Vampire Dreams

The storm rolled in sometime in the early hours of the morning. The thunder began rumbling off in the distance but quickly became loud enough to wake her. She watched the flashes light up the bedroom. She quietly slipped from her bed to sit on the floor in front of the open window. The statues and the small trees in the garden taking ominous shapes in the brilliant flashes of light.

When the rain began it began suddenly as a downpour. It splashed on the sill and tiny drops sifted through the screen to mist her face. Now her chin rested in her hands and she closed her eyes, the rain cooling her warm skin.

She wasn't sure why, but she had been having dreams that woke her at the same time for the past few nights. She couldn't remember much about the details, only that when she woke her heart was racing and she was strangely aroused. An odd mix of fear and excitement stayed with her until she fell back into a restless sleep.

Now she sat there in the window when blue flash lit up the entire back lawn. She jumped as the thunder crashed and she thought she saw a figure move quickly across then lawn to the path that led to the gazebo. She blinked and saw it again before it disappeared from her line of vision. ...
