I decided I'd go into the store and buy something to wear. Nothing expensive, because I couldn't wear it home, or even have it loose in the car. I'd have to discard it before I got home. There is a convenience store a few blocks from home. I could put whatever I bought into the trash there, so Stan wouldn't find it. I know I had to pay cash. I couldn't have a clothing purchase on the credit card, as both Stan and I look at the bills. One doesn't count their cash out in the open, but I remembered seeing two bills in my wallet when I took money out to pay for the tires. There was a fifty and a hundred. I got a twenty and a ten back in change, along with a couple of singles and some coin. After my lunch, I had about 180 bucks. With my credit card, I was fine.

I don't know what made me do it, but I looked in my wallet to make sure I had my credit card with me. Yes, I had it. What made me take the card out and look at it, I'll never know, but I'm glad I did. It ...
