He was confused and emotionally upset at how things had turned out. At how his best friend was allowed to die and how the murderers got away without taking responsibility for what had happened. Depressed, he became discouraged and even mad at himself for not being able to do anything about it. So he did what any guy would do in his shoes. He ran to the nearest city to get wasted.

The clatter of his shoes against the hard pavement sent chills through the air, like ripples on the surface of still water, moving outward. The traffic couldn't stop him from what he was about to do. The rain couldn't slow him down either, until a black limousine pulled up beside him in the back alley of an abandoned part of town. The shaded rear window electrically rolled down and he was asked by the man inside to hop in. And when the door opened to let him in, Matthew did what he had never done before. He got in the back seat of a car he didn't know who it belonged to.

"Are you, OK?" It was a preliminary question, the type of question to kill time before the real intent was revealed. Whatever the man wanted ...
