A lesson learnt

I worked with Lisa in a small office. I ran a small business out of the office and her role was to answer the phones and take orders. It was her first job and she was a bit green but I had employed her anyway as it was a undemanding job and she seamed to be a happy easy going type which I hoped would brighten up the place. Anyway what's wrong with a bit eye-candy ?

It had all been going well until I got a call from one of my more demanding customers. It appeared that Lisa had promised delivery of product but it had failed to arrive on time. I reassured him that I would sort it and called Lisa into my office. I told her about the call and she admitted that we didn't have stock of what he wanted but she had not told him as she didn't want to upset him. Knowing what a pain this guy can be I could understand but she had handled it wrong. I sternly explained that she had to be honest with customers when there was going to be delays with supply or else it causes bigger problems later. I guess I might have come across a bit heavy was she looked worried and was apologizing profusely and promising it wouldn't happen again. It then occurred to me this might not have been the only time so asked her how often she had lied to customers. She went very quite and then admitted that there had been a number of other occasions.
