"Deputy Dilemma"

Three coincidental events led to Deputy Hall's current predicament. He did not really feel all that unhappy about the situation but it was certainly a bit odd for him and could definitely go down the road to great embarrassment if not outright firing. His mind was only half-heartedly going over the events and consequences. The rest of him was highly involved in other things.

The first event was that maintenance had gone into Quiet Room 6 and worked on the ducts. They had finished late in the day and done a sloppy job of cleaning up after themselves. Dust and other junk from the vent was scattered all over the place. Evening shift had been too busy to deal with the mess and left it for the graveyard staff to tidy up. The worker had also left something that would have gotten him fired if Hall didn't plan on getting rid of it once he could.

The second event was that all of the nursing staff was involved in having a birthday party for a couple of hours. That meant nearly everyone was busy with cake and presents on the opposite side of the infirmary. Hall's partner for the evening had asked to take extra time for lunch so he could go the officer's gym to get a thorough work out before eating. Hall didn't mind, things always tended toward the absolutely boring during the late shift.
