Everyone chooses a career, some during High School or College, and others earlier than that but I sort of had my choice made for me. My father inherited the family business from my grandfather who started it with his brother many, many years ago. Now I and my brother and our cousin run the business that my father took a profitable early retirement from. For the uneducated, Maintenance is far more than unclogging toilets and changing light bulbs, and it can include small repairs, plumbing, hardware and sometimes HVAC work. Heck, sometimes for some of our smaller contracts, we mow the lawn and clean the pool instead of having someone else cut into our profits.

Among our contracts, we have a few condominiums and apartment buildings, and we also do on call work for a managed housing development. Of all our contracts, this can be a real pain because when we get a work call, we have to drive to the management office, use our key to get inside ...
