"Thank you... Good night, Alex," Gwen Archer said rather curtly, and closed the door on Alex Rossi.

As she waded carefully through the darkness of her townhouse in search of a lamp to light the room, she swore a silent oath, for the hundredth time that she was done with dating.

"What a jerk, " she mumbled softly to herself.

The date had gone, pretty much, the way most had gone for her lately. Words like "egotistical", "selfish", "weak", "mindless", "unaware", and "overindulgent" rushed into her head. They were words that described the men she had met over the last few years very well. Even at their best, they had left her with a dull empty ache.

She thought it a crying shame on this evening especially. She had always found Alex Rossi physically attractive, and she had been in the mood to give her body to him. That hadn't been a frivolous decision for Gwen Archer. She was far from being a loose woman. But, she was also a woman who could admit to herself that from time to time, every woman's got to have it, and she had been more than ready.
