Lisa could not believe how klutzy she was feeling this morning. She had been in a hurry since she had woken. The hotel wakeup call came too late and she hated feeling hurried. She barely had time to throw on some lipstick and pull her silky blonde hair up in a twist. All the other teachers at the conference had probably been up for a while drinking coffee, chatting, and looking their best. Oh well, at least the clothes she brought to wear would be okay, even if the rest of her felt out of sorts. She took one last look at herself in the bathroom mirror of her hotel room. Her flowered wrap around skirt and matching spaghetti strap top was perfect for trips. No ironing required. She slipped on her sandals, grabbed her conference notebook and headed out the door.

As the elevator descended the hotel, Lisa realized she had forgotten her sweater. It was sure to be freezing in the conference room. Too late now, as it was, she was going to end up in a back row seat, any later and she would have to resort to standing or sitting on the aisle floor. There was never enough seating at these conferences. Teachers from everywhere convened at this hotel to learn something new, although the welcome vacation from school was even more desired.

The elevator came to a halt and the whoosh of the doors brought Lisa back to attention. A large family was waiting for her to get out so they could get in. The children were actually not waiting. She laughed as they excitedly rushed the lift. In the bustle of getting ...
