The Phone Technician

I was just getting out of the shower when I heard the doorbell ring. I was staying at home that day to wait for the telephone company to come out to install a new phone line. I hurried into a pair of shorts and rushed to the door. The technician was early, but that was okay with me. I was glad to get the job done early so I could have the rest of the day to myself. I had some errands to run for my wife and I also wanted to play on the net a bit.

I invited him in and introduced myself. His name was Allen. He was a pretty nice looking guy, about 5'10" tall, maybe 180 pounds with short dark hair and a clean cut look. I showed him to where he would be working and left him to finish getting dressed.

I put on a T-shirt, brushed my hair and teeth and checked in on Allen. We talked a bit while he was working. He told me about his fiancé and their wedding plans, how they met, etc. I talked some about my wife and our story. He seemed to be a very nice young man.

When he finished, I signed the work order and he gathered his tools and was getting ready to leave. I invited him to stay for a cup of coffee if he had time. His next scheduled call wasn't for a couple of hours so he accepted. We sat at the kitchen table and talked for awhile.
