Sweetest Kind of Torture

Megan looks out her bedroom window, admiring the wonder of spring. Getting bright from the sun and rain, everything comes to life. Trees and grass turning too beautiful shades of green. Rose bushes beginning to bud and bloom, bringing the lovely fragrance that is uniquely theirs.

Crickets are chirping looking for a partner to pass the cool, crisp nights with. Hoping to bring fresh spring rain, frogs croak, to wash away the grime left from winter storms. The moon, shining on the dogwood trees in the backyard, is bright in the sky. Megan sees the red on each petal, from the shine of that celestial body. There is a romantic glow in the room, bringing a scent of a promise. It's a promise of sweet torture.

Megan turns to look at her bed. She doesn't notice the walls, in a need of a fresh coat of paint. Taking no notice of how cold the hardwood floors are. The light socket is hanging from the ceiling, doesn‘t seem to bother her. Doesn't see that the nightstands are moving crates turned upside down. These things are irrelevant. One of these days, they'll get around to fixing up this old house.
