My New Roommate

Chris moved into our three bedroom cottage near the beach to replace the roommate who had moved back east several months earlier. Rickie, my long time roommate had met him when there was a brush fire between our house and the one next door. Chris was one of the firefighters who responded to the call and he stayed for a while after the rest of the firefighters left, to be sure the fire was staying out.

Rickie invited him over for some ice tea while he was waiting and Chris quickly accepted the invitation, striking up a good rapport from the very start.

Sitting on the back deck, Chris said how much he would love to live in this area that was so close to the beach and his work... Somehow, that ended up with an invitation for him to fill the vacancy we had.

Both Rickie and I had agreed that we would be super careful who we selected, so I was surprised to find out later that evening that we had a new guy I had never met moving in over the next weekend. Needless to say, I was more than pissed at Rickie, who kept assuring me that I would love this new guy, Chris.
