We had decided to take the pizza outside to eat. It was such a lovely warm summer evening and it seemed a waste to be inside. Even at 9pm the breeze was warm and the cricketers were finishing off their game, with spectators sat around the boundary watching the final balls being bowled.

We spread the blanket across the uneven grass, a fair distance away from everyone. Finally after taking out the food, glasses, drinks and some small candles in jars to keep the gnats at bay, we sat down to eat.

As the last of the pizza was eaten we watched the cricketers packing away their equipment in the pavillion and the last of the cars left the car park.

The moon had become visible in the sky as the huge ball of red sun began to fade downwards and out of sight behind the trees.

We laid in each others arms not worrying about moving for now. The flickering of the candles became more noticeable as the daylight faded into the black night. Clear skys made magical twinkling stars appear above us.

As i finished replenishing our glasses and set them down beside us Jay laid down on the blanket pulling me into him, a protective arm holding me tightly. I unbuttoned his shirt one-handedly cos i loved to lay on ...
