It was an unusually warm evening, so they ended up walking to the restaurant. Arm in arm, chatting and laughing. Never a lull in conversation, never an awkward silence or anything resembling it. Finally, they arrived and decided to have a cocktail at the bar before sitting down for dinner. Two vodkas later and a ton of what he thought was innocent flirtting, they were escorted to a secluded table on the west side of the dining room. They ordered another round of drinks and a few appetizers. She took his hands and held them across the table and told him how happy she was that they met. "There is a reason for everything" she told him. And there is a reason why we met now and here. He did'nt quite get what she was saying but nodded in agreement none the less.

Dinner was amazing, they each agreed it was one of the best steaks either of them ever had. They could not decide on a dessert, so they ended up ordering three. One more drink and he requested the check. When it came she made an honest attempt to split it with him and that meant a lot to him although he would have none of it. He paid the bill and they left.

The cool fall air felt good after so many drinks. He was feeling high from all the alcohol but was still in complete control of himself. They walked a block or two before hailing a taxi and heading back to the hotel.
