Red and orange leaves drifted slowly through the air. The breeze was cool, sharp on the skin. The sun however felt hot on my face. The stiff breeze hurried along the small patches of clouds in that big blue sky. I stood there, staring out over the hills, alive with the vibrant colors of fall. The sounds of the forest where always calming to me. The stirring of the squirrels at the edge of the tree's and the birds flying south, singing on their way. I had hiked up to the top of the mountain early that day. Setting out on my journey as the suns rays pierced the sky with loud orange and pink streaks. I held my camera in my hands, the casing cold. I love to take pictures as I hike of the wildlife and scenery. I usually hike alone and today was no exception.

I snapped several pictures of the valley below. The small creek that wound its way through the bottom was almost hidden by the painted canvas above it. I knew it was there though. I had hiked along it many times. Often stopping for days at a time to camp along its banks. One of my most prized photographs was taken there. That of a black bear standing in the creek swatting at fish as they swam by. ‘Hooonk.' the sounds brought my eyes back to the sky above. Yet another V of geese flying overhead. I snapped several pictures as they flew over head, chattering away to each other in their own way. I smiled as one in particular seemed to have a hard time keeping up. I hope the little guy makes it he still has a long trip ahead.
