A steely blue twilight settled over the city as Wendy pulled her car into the driveway. The house was dark and Tim's truck was noticeably absent. She sighed to herself. These days it wasn't surprising to find her husband gone when she arrived, but it was still annoying. Fumbling with her coffee cup, duffel bag and keys, she let herself into the empty house and headed for the bedroom to change.

"It's Thursday," she thought. "He's probably over at Doc's tavern watching the game."

In the past year her husband seemed to almost avoid being around her. Ever since she had taken a new position as Vice President of Human Resources for a large insurance company she felt more like a roommate than a spouse. It's not that they fought, they just didn't interact much anymore.

She tossed the grey suitcoat over the back of her easy chair in the sitting area and started unbuttoning her pale blue top as she went into the bathroom. Tim was a good guy and he was still damn good looking even after 11 years of marriage, but they hadn't slept together in almost 5 months she figured.
