Chapter 2.

Beautiful Friendship

After their "first date," as Hap always facetiously referred to it in his mind, they became very close friends. The proximity of their apartments helped to facilitate their friendship greatly, since they were both so close, just a few seconds walk down a single flight of steps. They would see each other almost every day, either because they ran into one another outside while coming or going or through one's visit to the other's apartment. When she wasn't with Tyler, she would usually be with Hap. Sometimes he would come up there while she would make dinner or to watch TV, since she loved to cook and had HBO. Sometimes she would come down to visit him to check her email or watch a movie, since he had a PC and a high end home theatre set up. More importantly, they both got together so often because they loved one another's company, though perhaps for very different reasons.

Natalie had told him that she'd always hard difficulties making friends with other women her age. "Women are so catty," she'd tell him.
