Terry and Pete moved into a new house in the fourth year of their marriage. Their house was one of the few in the neighborhood with a second story. The house was on a small rise near the end of the street. The whole top floor of the house comprised the master bedroom suite. From the bedroom, french doors opened up on to a large sundeck on the second floor, which included a large hot tub and patio table. From this deck the whole neighborhood could be seen. Their lot also included a swimming pool, as did most houses in their neighborhood. Because of insurance requirement if swimming pools are present, almost all of the back yards were totally fenced.

March 21st, the equinox: From here on there would be more sun up time than sun down. It was time to get the pools back in operation. On the next Saturday, the neighbors would go from house to house and quickly get the covers off and clean the pools and then move on to the next house. Pete went off early in the morning as part of the crew. Terry started to drain and refill the hot tub and clean up the deck furniture.

As the sun marched up the sky, it became a lot warmer than usual for March. The guys on the crew were working steadily towards Pete's house and by now were stripped to the waist. Three doors down Dolores brought a round of beer out to the crew. She gave them all special ...
