Daisy's Story.

When I left school I got a job as an assistant in a designer clothing shop. I was eighteen and the job was wonderful: not only a regular wage which was very generous for someone with almost no experience but I was also provided with some of latest styles to wear to work. All the staff were slim and attractive and it was made clear to us that part of our job was to model the clothes and we were expected to pay attention to our weight and appearance. There were three of us working in the shop: I was the youngest, my colleague Anne was about 25 and the shop manager Sarah was in her mid thirties.

We only saw the shop owner, Mr. Smith once a week. On Friday morning he would go through the weeks sales figures with Sarah in the office and afterwards he would send out for pizza or sandwiches. Sometimes the Friday lunch was used as a staff meeting to discuss a new product range or some other issue but usually it was just an opportunity to socialise.

This particular week all three of us were in the office munching on our sandwiches and chatting. Sarah was reading the 'Sun' and suddenly choked on a mouthful of bread as she came across a particularly entertaining story.
