The Room - Part 5

For the last several weeks, Eve had been too busy with work. Client meetings, emails, department meetings and projects it never seemed to end. Her social life had picked up some. Dates on Fridays and Saturdays were more frequent. She longed for a simple surprise package or the unusual email, but none arrived.

Wednesday she was trying to catch up on paperwork when her telephone rang. She let voice mail take the call. Less a minute a later the telephone rang again, again voice mail picked up the call. Eve left her desk to make some copies. Her co-workers told her that the telephone never stopped ringing. Eve checked the display; six voice mail messages in less then fifteen minutes.

Eve got on her computer. She could convert the voice mail messages to text files. A few minutes later she read the six messages. All said the same thing and they were all from the same person, Beth. The message simple read: Call me at 555-1234 immediately Beth. Eve got on her voice mail. She confirmed Beth's voice.

Eve closed her office door and called Beth. Beth wanted to know if Eve was available for an appointment on Friday evening. Eve would clear her calendar. Beth told her when and where to be and to dress casual.
