This is a fantasy of a friend of mine told me. It originally had a more generic background, but I turned it into a story with a historical background. Don't bother telling me that the history is all wrong, the facts have to bend to align with the story. I put this in under the category "first time" but of course it could be under almost any other category too since lots happens.

Wars of the Roses

In 1431 Joan of Arc was put to death after having been captured the previous year on her way to try to relieve the siege of Compiègne. Meanwhile, across the channel in England, John the Duke of Lancaster had his second child, a daughter, sister to his firstborn son Simon. As was all too common in those days, Victoria's mother died from puerperal fever a few days after the birth. The duke dispatched his manservant to search the countryside for a wet-nurse to suckle the newborn infant. But it turned out that it was not necessary to search that far. One of the cooks had just had a baby of her own and her milk-swollen breasts would be able to feed both Victoria and her own son, who she had named Adam. John, the duke, sent for the cook and made her a promise that if Victoria survived to her sixth birthday then he would make her own son a knight and train him in the chivalric arts of weaponry.
