I was driving back home from the meeting I tried so hard to get out of. It was Christmas Eve and all I wanted to do was get home and enjoy what little time that was left of this wasted day with my family. The sounds of Christmas music coming from my car radio was being interrupted every five minutes by the screeching alert signal from the National Weather service warning everyone to stay off the roads due to the approaching snow storm. I continued driving as fast as I could hoping that there was a possibility of beating the storm and making it home before the worst of it hit. I was only an hour from home when I knew this was not ever going to happen. The roads were so slick and the snow and wind had caused a white out that making it off the freeway to the holiday Inn at the bottom of the ramp was almost impossible. Through my headlights I could barely make out the green and gold sign to the hotel and I hoped and prayed they even had a room. I could tell by the parking lot that I might have waited too long to make my decision to pull over for the night.

I parked my car and battled my way in from the cold to the reservation desk. The clerk looked at me ,smiled. and said "you must be the luckiest guy alive tonight, I have one room left and I am completely booked up, It's has two double beds but if you want it ,it's yours"
