My story takes place about four years ago, just as I was entering my freshman year of college. I was working three days a week plus an occasional weekend in a cozy little coffee shop. When it was nice out I would ride my bike to school and then to work.

My waitress uniform was a long-sleeved white shirt, black tie, a very short skirt, black dress shoes, and white socks. I always felt slightly awkward wearing this. I had slender legs, standing five-foot-six, and felt that the skirts made my thighs look too fat.

One night at work business was slow. I only had two tables to serve the whole night. At one table there was a married couple out for once without their kids. I could tell that they wanted to be left alone for the night. At the other table sat a young lady, couldn't have been older that 20. She was by herself. She was beautiful and I thought it was unusual that she was alone. She had short brown hair and a nice tan. She had on a white shirt and a royal blue skirt which buttoned down the side.

She ordered a latte drande and a couple biscottis. When I brought out her drink I mentioned that she looked busy, with all her papers spread across the table. She smiled and me and said she didn't mind talking. She called me by my name, Sara, which threw me off a second until I remembered I was wearing a name tag.
