It had only been four hours since Cerri had left Nick standing in the parking lot of the restaurant where they had breakfast. It was almost a 2 day drive home and it left her wondering why she stayed in that lonely little town after her husband had passed away. They had moved there almost two years ago because it was close to the city where his company had transferred him to. "I miss you Jered" she said out loud with out even realizing she had said it. The sound of her voice over the cd of kids songs playing startled her. Cerri had found a part time job shortly after moving to the small Colorado town. Nothing in the world could prepare her for the night her husband died.

She was sitting at home waiting for Jered to arrive. It was early December and their ninth anniversary and they had planned on going out to celebrate. Cerri had arranged for the sitter to stay the night with their five year old daughter. The night before Cerri and Jered had joked that it would be the last night out they got for a while since their second baby was due in mid February. The phone rang a few minutes before Jered was due to walk in the door, it was him calling to say that he would be about a half hour because traffic was slow. A little disappointed at the fact Cerri went in to read her daughter another bed time story and cuddle with her a bit. Cerri was talking with Amanda the sitter when the phone rang again but this time it was not Jered, it was the hospital.
