"Do you want to talk about it?" he said, taking her hand in his. The city was humming at dusk as they walked the streets in the clouds of subway steam and taxi exhaust.

"It's not important really. It can wait." Jean heaved her scarf higher on her throat as the wind blew sharply through her and she cursed at herself for wearing a skirt. They would have to get inside soon.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, let's just get there." She let a little smile out to him and they walked on, passing the lights and the noise and the crowds.

When they turned the corner their destination had come into view and quickly they rushed to get inside the theater. Still shivering from the chills they removed their gloves and hats to thaw.

"We still have two hours Jeanie. Let's go up to the bar and get a drink." Matthew suggested smiling. He had the most beautiful, full-faced grin she had ever seen. It soothed her anxiety so much.

They climbed the stairs to the little bar room and got themselves a pint each and found a corner table. He helped her off with her coat and took his off as well and they sat, her smoky brown eyes to his golden.
