My name is Simon and I'm taking a degree in Media Studies at college. At the end of my first year I decided to get a summer job to help earn a few bucks. I'm not desparate for cash as my parent look after me pretty well, but they're not that well off and I'm keen to gain my independance and take some of the burden off them. Besides I'm having such a great social life I kinda feel guilty letting them pay for it all.

So in the final semester I decided to ask around college to see what might be around. One of my lecturers said that there was a small local advertising firm, Telfer's, that had taken some students before and gave me the name and e-mail address of a student who had worked there the previous summer. I couldn't believe my luck. I'd half expected to be working at McDonalds so to get a chance to work somewhere related to my study was a opportunity I couldn't turn down. I e-mailed the guy, Rick, straight away. Within a couple of days the reply came back. Rick said the wages weren't great but he'd gained some really great experience there and the place had a real welcoming, family atmosphere. That was all the encouragement I needed and I phoned Telfer's that afternoon. I explained to them that I was a Media Studies student looking for a summer job and had been given their number. The lady at the other end asked me to hang on for a second saying she'd get the boss.
