Watching It Happen -- Part 1

Ann had gone to town that evening to enjoy herself with some other women in enjoying some refreshments and casual conversation about a variety of topics. She'd had a nice evening with her girlfriends and then she'd headed home. On her way she thought about all that she'd talked about during the evening, and then knew that her 18-year old daughter Libby would be there waiting for her when she got home. Her husband was out of town on a business trip and she'd left a male friend of her and her husband there at the house as well, hoping all would be well while she was away.

Ann parked her car in the garage, and when she walked into the kitchen from the garage, she was struck by the fact that she didn't hear the television playing and Libby wasn't there in the kitchen to greet her like she usually was when her mother returned home. Ann laid her purse and coat down on the couch in the family room and she walked down to Libby's bedroom to see if her daughter was in there reading or doing something and hadn't heard her arrive.

Ann actually expected that the family friend, Rob, might have gone out on the town himself during the evening, leaving Libby there by herself. But, when Ann walked up to the door of Libby's bedroom, she hadn't ...
