Friendly Neighbours Part 1

It was my first apartment. It wasn't anything fancy, just a little bachelor uptown, but it was clean and it was mine. After surviving 23 years with my parents I felt I truly deserved the space - not that I'd really had a choice but to move out.

One of the top universities in the country had offered me a prestigious graduate student position. I knew it was going to be a ton of work but it was thrilling too. A new lab, office, new city new friends to meet and this excellent apartment overlooking the park were everything I had always dreamed of.- well, not everything, but more on that later. I felt like I had morphed into a new person.

After about a month, I was into the groove of my new life. The graduate position was going beautifully and I was meeting many new people on campus. The city was everything I'd hoped it would be: bustling with interesting people, there was always something new and exciting to try, yet at the same time, it wasn't so loud I couldn't sleep at night. The best part was all the museums, theatres and art galleries.
