"Are you sure you'll be okay while we're away?" Yvette's mother was concerned. Her parents were going to go away on the dream vacation they had always wanted to experience but never thought they would be able to afford. One lucky day they received a phone call that changed everything. The winning ticket for the vacation had their name on it. All they had to do was be able to be gone for six weeks, and have current passports and immunizations. The sweepstakes people would take care of everything else. Neither of them remembered entering the sweepstakes, but regardless, they had won.

"Yes mum, I'll be fine. Uncle Ritchie is going to look after me. You'll be back before I start school, in any case." Yvette was quick to reassure her parents. She knew that they needed the vacation, and she would be well-taken-care of by one of her father's best friends.

With tears in their eyes, Yvette's parents said goodbye in the airport terminal. It would be six weeks before they would return and they would be world-weary travelers by that time. Ritchie guided Yvette out to his low-slung sports car and she felt relaxed and happy on the drive to his place. He was wealthy and she had always enjoyed her family's visits to Uncle Ritchie's place. During the drive her thoughts went back to when she was sixteen. She'd had a huge crush on Uncle Ritchie, knowing that he wasn't really any sort of blood relation.
