"Come in." I said. I was getting this pretend-hooker thing pretty fast.

The door opened and a head popped around the corner. The first thing that I thought of was Herb Baumeister, a serial killer from Indiana, who killed scores of boys and men in 80s and 90s. I suppose the association should have been horrifying, but I found it amusing instead.

The hilarity of it came from the way the guy who was peeping inside the room looked like. He finally entered and I almost nodded to myself. A very tall and slim man, with a pouch of a belly, his arms and legs too long and too thin to look anything but clumsy. He had a big face with strong eyebrows that resembled centipedes above his small, blue eyes. His ears were gigantic, the kind that inevitably cause the cruelty in school children to call the unfortunate owner a "Dumbo". He had wide mouth and when he smiled, he showed off a row of long, narrow teeth, leaning to the left and right, back and front, without rhyme or reason. He was not the kind of guy who should smile a lot.

He looked like a complete nerd, many of which I had known in every school I had ever attended. An awkward creature, painfully trying to fit into the crowd, yet every of his attempts would only make him more pathetic. I felt sorry for guys like that, as long as they didn't try their luck with me and I'd brush them off, usually politely, quite rudely if they didn't get the drift the first time around. ...
