The First Sign

It was a beautiful spring day late in May, and a rare opportunity for him to be alone in the house. His wife was at work, his children not yet released from school for the summer. Business was going well, so he'd decided to take advantage of what would probably be the last opportunity to enjoy some peace and quiet and the hot tub he had installed over the weekend.

He poured himself a Jack Daniels, turned on the jets full blast and, in the seclusion of his backyard, stripped naked and slowly lowered himself into the hot, churning water.

His skin tingled with the first sensation as he sat on the edge and rested his neck against the force of the jets. He sipped his drink, letting the icy cold bourbon travel slowly down his throat and closed his eyes against the brightness of the sun. He felt the warmth of the rays against his face and was just about to fully relax when he felt a cloud pass over the light. He waited for it to pass, but after a few seconds he still hadn't felt any change. He cursed to no one. Just his luck to have this one perfect day ruined by cloudy skies.

But when he opened his eyes, it wasn't the clouds that had eclipsed the sun, but the figure of a woman. With the bright sunlight shining behind her, he couldn't see her face, but one look at the shape of her ...
