This all took place over thirty years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday. I had just turned eighteen and was just a few days away from the start of my first year in college. My hometown was small, only a few thousand people lived there in those days, and my high school was so tiny everybody knew each other. I wasn't a very social student. I was younger and smaller than my peers, reasonably studious, and I rarely went to parties. I knew most of the athletes from my time on the teams, but I was never a star and none of the girls gave me a second look while I was in school.

Throughout the summer I worked with two people from the school who were incoming seniors. They both hung with the popular crowd. Bret was starting quarterback on the varsity football team the last two years; everyone thought he would be all-conference his senior year and he fully expected scholarship offers, so he didn't bust the books very often. He was six-two, blonde and built, and a little dumb.

His girlfriend, Teri, led the cheerleading squad and she had no aspirations beyond parties now, and a home and family later. She was beautiful and sexy and she knew it.
