Part two My best friends Mother

After we swam to cool off, she got out of the pool and went to lay down on a chaise lounge. I took a few more laps and then joined her. I was thirsty so I got up and went into her kitchen and made some ice tea. The phone rang and since she was outside by the pool I answered it. It was her father who I had met several times. He was a widower and I asked how things were going. He relayed the usual, his golf game was off and his girlfriend was getting to be a real pain in the neck. Her father lived in Carmel, California near 17 mile drive. He asked if his daughter was there and I went out to get her. She came in and started a conversation with her dad. I couldn’t follow the conversation, so I concentrated on making the ice tea and some guacamole that was my specialty..

She got off the phone and asked if I wanted to go the Carmel next week and house sit. I told her I had to work with my dad, but I would check it out. I called my dad at work and he said I deserved a little vacation and go ahead. He gave his regards to my best friends mom and hung up. We discussed next week and I said her daughter and son would probable want to go. She said they wouldn’t and her husband was going out of town next week to a convention.
