Lunch at the library

It was a dreary day in early December when my wife called and wanted me to bring her some soup and crackers for lunch. I heated up a bowl of vegetable soup left over from the night before. After it is heated I grab a tube of crackers and fix up a thermos with some sweet tea and load it all up and head out. It took two minutes to cross the railroad tracks and park at the front of the library. Carla saw me pulling up and was standing at the door ready for me when I climbed out and made a dash for the door.

The heaters were on low and it was nice and toasty compared to the damp cold of outside. I sat over at the computer playing some games while she ate. Finished she got up and walked over to where I was still sitting.

"Thank you for brining me a hot lunch, it sure hit the spot" she said leaning over my shoulder to give me a kiss on the cheek.

"Come back here to the reference room and let me show you something."

I stood up and followed her back to the small room that many years ago had been the library itself. The lights were still off and with no heaters in the room it was still cold. Carla walked over and lowered both blinds that had been up cutting off just about all light coming in ...
