God, it ws a long couple of weeks, and with all the crap I had taken at work, I was down. I needed a break. I'm going home.

I hadn't been home in a while, so with a call down home, to let family know I was coming down, I packed my car, and left the next day. Normally I would have flown, but I knew the 700 mile drive would do me good. Time to relax, and listen to the radio would be jus what I needed.

Leaving the northwest suburbs of Chicago, I headed in on the 90, to the inbound 290, to I-355 south to pick up Interstate 55 for the straight run to St Louis. It's there I pick up I-44 and head for Joplin, and on to Tulsa, my home.

Making the usual stops on my drive, I made a good run in my old Plymouth Roadrunner, and made the ride in about 10 1/2 hours. Coming in to Tulsa on the Will Rogers Turnpike made me feel great, and a bit homesick at the same time. I've always wondered why I left.

Coming in to the city, I looked at all the familiar sights, and followed my way to my cousin Lara's house. I'd be staying with her. Well, as I wheeled in the driveway, I got the shock of a lifetime! Cars everywhere. You'd think the prodigal son had returned or something. My whole family was here to see me. Hell, I just wanted a shower, shave, and a whiskey. ...
