She didn't want to go, in fact, she had argued vehemently against going with her two friends, Kate and Maya. They were great friends, most of the time, but ever since she had caught David with that Freshmen, it had become their mission to drag her out to some party every chance they got. After three years here, it was almost expected that the three of them would turn up at the good parties, but standing outside yet another frat house with music blaring into the cool autumn night, Susan realized that this was no longer where she belonged. Ever since that horrible night a month ago, when she had tried to surprise her boyfriend and wound up being the one surprised instead, she felt like she had aged considerably.

Standing there, with Kate and Maya each tugging on her arms, Susan felt like she was some middle aged woman watching kids at play and wistfully recalling her younger days. Not with any regret, but a certain sense of nostalgia, and the understanding that a chapter of her life was over, and this was a new beginning. Unfortunately, her friends had other things in mind for tonight, this which no doubt included hunky frat guys, some beer and some company for the night. The beer sounded fine, but neither of the other two things interested her, but Kate had arranged for them to have a triple date, and this was where they were meeting their escorts for the night.
