Susan Anderson looked around at her AP History class and saw a few of her students nodding, the rest sat silently with their eyes down and their pens furiously copying down her every word. They were good students for the most part, about what she had expected when she had been approached by such a small private school. The school had been around for over a hundred years now, and it had a solid record for turning out young adults who would become the movers and shakers of the future. Several political officials, a vice president, several well known scientists and doctors as well as many others stood among the alumni.

What had really attracted her to the school though, was the college-like campus, the focus on discipline, and the small class sizes, all of which tended to turn out people with more professional attitudes than the average high school. It also meant that she got to know her students a lot better, and she enjoyed watching them as they changed and matured. Kind of like watching coal become diamonds in a furnace under extreme pressure and heat, over time, she saw hints of what they would be like as adults.
