It had been a long work stretch, and I was in need of a little R and R. 22 stops, in 7 countries, over 30 days, was way too much. I was beat. I had been working way to hard, and felt that I had earned some time off, for good behavior. I contacted some friends of mine, and we set up, what would be the last leg of this European jaunt.

I was going to meet some friends to do a little skiing. I felt invigorated by the mere thought of hitting the slopes, and couldn't wait for the day to arrive.

The day came, and I sat anxiously on board a Finnair Boeing 737, as we approached Helsinki. We made our final approach through some low cloulds that threatened some serious snow, and I fet the 737-300 touch down. The reverse thrust from the two large turbo fans kicked in, and with a lurch, the plane dumped the lift, and we taxied to a waiting gate.

After the usual questions, and proceedures at customs, I headed for the rental car counter, and filed my claim for my car. I was delighted to see what was given to me, a Saab Turbo. Since I would be traveling to the far north of Finland, I felt that this would be an excellent choice to make the long drive up toward the Arctic Circle.

Leaving the Airport at a little after 9 am, I was pleased to see virtually no traffic. I guess that even the hearty people of this cold ...
