Hired Hand - 2

It is early Saturday morning and I have been looking forward to having a day off. I told the ranch hands not to come back until Sunday late or Monday morning early, most all of them had already left. The ranch had a foreman house and a caretakers house, the caretaker and his wife had left late Friday night to go to the coast. So Mike was the only one on the ranch besides me.

I planned to go to the high meadow this morning. As I was leaving on my horse, I tacked a note on his door. I told him where I would be,"someone should know in case something happened and I didn't make it home," that I would be by the lake. As I rode out of the yard I thought what a nice day this was going to be, no worries. The lake was high up in the mountains and the water was dark blue and cold, It was going to be a hot day and the sun was warm as I rode,I hurried my horse along, I was anxious to get there.

Near the top of the mountain was the lake and a meadow. My favorite spot to eat and camp out, was under the big oak tree. As I got off my horse I thought how nice if Mike would take the hint and come up. I didn't know if he would , he hadn't talk to me on a personal level since the night we slept together. I put the horse in the corral, she had water and a nice tree in her pen to give her shade. We both were going to enjoy these two days off. ...
