It was a rude awakening to say the least. One minute I'm sleeping like a baby and the next I'm sitting bolt upright in bed wondering what that crash was. My first panicky thought was that someone was breaking into my house. That's my number one fear whenever my husband is away. There was another noise that sounded like rushing water so I was pretty sure that I wasn't about to be [censored] and murdered.

Getting out of bed I tentatively stepped out of my bedroom and made my way slowly down the hall. Whatever was making that noise seemed to be in the kid's bathroom. By the time I reached the door I could tell that it was definitely splashing water that I heard. It made me wonder if whoever had broken into my house was stopping to take a shower before killing me. Of course that was ridiculous but in the middle of the night it's hard to stop silly thoughts like that from popping into my head.

Sure enough when I stepped in and flicked on the light there was no showering murderer. Instead it was a broken faucet and a gusher of water shooting out from the wall and filling up my bathroom. Actually I probably would have preferred the murderer. Especially given the fact that I was home all alone and there was no chance of getting a plumber at this time of night.
