Teacher's Pet Part 1

"How could I have done that? I'm risking my entire career. No one must know and it can't ever happen again. I just pray no one will ever find out," Nikki thought. She knew that if anybody found out, she would lose her job and probably never find another.

Nicole Webb was a college professor at a fairly large university. Very unusual for some one who was only 30, but she had worked very hard, through high school, college and her postgraduate work. It had all paid off after earning her masters when she signed on as a teaching assistant. Then after just a few years she was asked to stay on as a professor. Now she was one the students hoped to get.

Nikki was member of the history department but she was progressive in her methods. She knew most students didn't enjoy history as much as she did so she catered to their thoughts more. Instead of boring lectures and mundane reading, she wanted students to learn what they might find entertaining. Simply memorizing facts and dates and names was not learning. Therefore, she chose to have students write papers for their grades and allowed them to write on a variety of different ideas. What ever interested them. Moreover, she just wanted to see some effort. Nikki knows that some students are better writers but as long as they put forth their best and showed improvement she would grade them accordingly.
