The Candidate by Lady Grey Part 2 The Big Night.

As the evening of the Auction drew near, it was noticeable that Joanne was beginning to feel the strain, knowing what was going to be expected of her on the big night. The ever watchful Jason sensed that things might not go quite as planned unless he intervened.

He called Mildred, the senator's housekeeper, to his office, and with an inducement of a few hundred dollars, he made sure that on the nights leading up to the event that Joanne's evening drink was subject to a slight addition. Overnight the girl suddenly became much more amenable and Jason's diligence had once again averted a small crisis.

He had also enlisted Samantha to be Joanne's companion for the evening. She would look after her younger sister, making sure that she arrived at the function and that she was ready and prepared for her big occasion. She was also given a healthy budget and sent out shopping with Joanne for new outfits for both of them for the evening. Although Joanne would spend most of the evening without her clothes on, she would have to put in an appearance early in the evening to meet and mix with the guests prior to the auction itself. Making her look attractive to the guests could help to send up the bidding.
