"Clara, Clara dear! Oh I'm so glad you did not ask anyone along. We have had so little time together - just us two, but I have never liked this cabin of yours. The signs on the canyon wall say; ‘In case of flood climb to safety.' Each one has a big arrow pointing up. The thing that bothers me about that is, where the signs are is in the most impossible place to climb!

And, now look at this scrawny road. It is hardly wide enough for two cars to pass. Another thing about the road is that it is but one step from the river and about on the same level!" I exclaimed.

"Burt you're a worrywart - worse than some old ladies. The cabin has been here fifty years and will still be here fifty years from now. Step on it or we will be forever. If some one comes, just try to miss them," she said laughing.

Miles further on and well within the canyon, we came to the cabin perched on stilts and hugging the cliff. A stair almost as steep as a ladder was the only access. Under the ‘house' as Clara calls it is a tiny spot for parking the car. Unless you use extreme care part of the car will still be in the road!
