I paused for a moment, causing Kathy to ask, "What is it, Bobby?"

My mouth won the race with my tear ducts. I hugged her and blurted out, "I'm your father."

Her little arms didn't go all the way around me, but I could feel her hugging me back. I let go of her so I could look at the expression on her face. "Daddy!" she exclaimed. When she leaned forward, she looked like she was losing her balance, so I raised my arms to keep her in place. She kissed my cheek.

I loosened my grip so we could look at each other, and I told her, "And we're all going to be a family now."

Kathy yelled, "Yay!" loud enough that I hoped I'd regain my hearing in my right ear before too long. In the distance I could see that Heather was saying "Yay," too, or something else equally enthusiastic. I even saw a tear in her eye. Other than during sex, it was the first time she'd looked happy since we found each other again.

Still holding Kathy in my arms, I stood up and walked to her bedroom. Heather followed us. I placed Heather back on her bed and told her, "Good night, Princess."
